How long does it take to obtain a business license?
The time required to obtain a license depends on the type of activity and the characteristics of the premises. In general, the project can be completed in one or two weeks. If construction work is needed, a prior works notification must be submitted to the city council along with the technical project. Once the work is finished, the business can start operating after submitting a responsible declaration, subject to possible inspections.

What documents do I need to apply for a business license?
To apply for a business license, a technical project of the premises, establishment plans, and specific city council forms are required. However, while waiting for the final license, it is possible to open the business by submitting a responsible declaration (+ info) , where the owner states that they have all the necessary documentation to operate, along with the activity project proving compliance with the applicable regulations. This procedure allows immediate opening, although the business will be subject to later inspections.

Can I open my business in any location?
No, opening a business depends on the land use regulations of each municipality. Some activities may be restricted in certain areas due to urban planning, environmental, or community reasons. Before starting the process, it is necessary to verify if the premises are suitable for the planned activity according to urban planning regulations.

How much does a business license cost?
The cost is divided into two parts: The fees of the technician, which depend on the complexity of the project and administrative requirements. The municipal fees, which vary depending on the activity and location of the premises.

Can I make renovations in the premises while processing the business license?
To carry out big renovations, a prior works notification must be submitted. Additionally, municipal fees (not included in our service fees) must be paid, varying based on the amount of debris generated, determined by the budget of the work. Once the notification is submitted and the fees are paid, work can begin after 15 days.

What types of fees exist?

Do I need a business license if my business is not open to the public?
Yes, even if the premises do not receive customers, any economic activity must comply with municipal regulations, so a license is still mandatory.

Can I transfer my business license to another premises?
No, the license is tied to a specific premises. If you change location, you will need to apply for a new license for the new space.

The premises must comply with urban planning regulations, fire safety requirements, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, noise insulation if it generates noise, and adequate ventilation. These requirements vary depending on the type of activity, so a specific study is needed to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations.

How long does it take to obtain a vado?
The final license may take several weeks or months to be issued, depending on administrative deadlines. In the case of specific procedures such as obtaining a vado, the process usually takes around three months, although this varies by municipality.
